November 15th, 2017

It is 5:48 AM on November 15th, 2017.  It is a cool, dark Pacifica morning with a heavy breeze rustling through the eucalyptus trees.  In 45 minutes it will be dawn and the day will slowly begin.  People are now waking up getting ready for the day and perhaps everyone is in a slightly better mood with the Thanksgiving holiday next week.

It is expensive to live in the Bay Area and so most are focused on work and getting money.  The traffic, long hours and seemingly endless work stress people out.  It is only when people finally get a break that they can finally enjoy themselves and what this area has to offer.

As for me, I caught up with Jim, who I hadn’t seen in over a year and then again with Brandon and Peter.  Brandon is living a bachelors life and wanted to go out so I obliged on Saturday.  This of course lead to drinking a lot of beer which I really don’t like.  It is only today, after a workout at 4 AM that I’m feeling great again.  I don’t like drinking alcohol as much as I used to because I find that any amount depresses my mindset for a few days now that I’m 40 years old.  I much prefer being able to wake up very early, get my exercise, go to karate and it is only then that I feel I can conquer the world.  When I drink alcohol, the world is conquering me.

With the endorphins coursing through my mind, the holiday just next week and the fact that I’ve won a major RFP I’m in a very positive mood.  I have one business review this morning in San Francisco but after that things should be pretty slow.  I haven’t been to karate in over a week which isn’t good, but we’re planning on doing the green belt and up class as well as weapons class today.  More exercise means a better mood and just in time for Thanksgiving.

World news continues to depress me and so perhaps I should make that effort to stop reading it.  I need to get back into my pre-summer routine of waking up, working out and meditating.

This morning I took a picture of the crab boats out on the water.  You know it is November when they appear and look like another city or perhaps an alien invasion sitting out there throughout the night in the cold, dark Pacific ocean.
