E-mail to Marina 12.24.2003

Hi Marina!

I’m busy busy busy!  Level one and two Japanese were for morons, but level three is killing me.  They really make us do so much homework, and although I’m constantly doing homework, I can never get it done until the day before it’s due.  Needless to say I’m ready for a break and looking forward to going back home for Christmas.  Going home for the holidays (Christmas) is always my favorite time of the year.  Then just after Christmas, I’m soo ready to leave little Columbus, Ohio and get back to the crazy life in Tokyo.  But for the moment, my batteries are worn down and I need a little break.  I’m going home on December 14th and have to leave class a whole week early for which the senseis are angry with me.

I don’t think you’re weird at all for playing Hockey in the parking lot!  Actually I think I’m weird because I had a dream I was talking to Bill Gates about a computer nerd friend of mine at Waseda and we were getting along really well!  I definately need this break because I’m losing it.

Gros Bisous!

Hi sweetheart. How are you?  I hope you recieve this email.  I was so busy last week, I emailed you briefly then. I’m finally almost finished school assignmnets.  I am in the education program and its realy gruelling because they put two years of information into one.  Anyways it’s been pretty good, but I’m ready for winter vacation.  My hands are frozen and I keep hitting the wrong keys!  Last night I went for all you can eat sushi with classmates and then we played hockey in a parking lot.  It was fun.  I know what you’re saying: Those weirdos!  Hope to hear from you soon.  Miss ya,

                                                                                            Marina

>It’s been a long time! How have you been? Doing anything exciting? It’s the same old here in Tokyo, and Japanese is still impossible to learn. I have no contact with the Nova people from before and am pretty busy with teaching English, studying and going to the gym. I plan on staying here at least one more year, but during that time I have to find a permanent job. It’s no fun going into the real world is it.

>I went out with Masaru and Aguri a week ago and we were saying how much we missed you. As you may know Aguri spent a year in New Zealand and that silly girl learned absolutely no English. I guess she made a lot of Japanese friends and simply spoke Japanese all the time and even worked in a Japanese restaurant. Funny huh.

>Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I miss you. Hope you are well.
