Neither frozen ponds nor January chill will stay avid golfers from their appointed rounds. Bob and Marie Curtin took advantage of the relatively warm January weather last week to play a round of golf at Wilson Rd. Golf Course.
“I was halfway ‘yes’ and halfway ‘no,’ ” Mr. Curtin said. “My wife really wanted to go, and I couldn’t say ‘no.’ ” When Mr. Curtin retired from Burroughs Corp., now Unisys, in 1982, the company gave him a golf bag and clubs to get him started in the sport. Mrs. Curtin followed in 1984. This was the first time the couple had played golf in January. “It was great,” he said. ” Several golf courses on the West Side remain open year-round, including the Wilson Rd. and Bolton Field courses, which are operated by the city of Columbus.
